A Bellyful Central Auckland recipient who received meals while her premature newborn was in Auckland Hospital shares her thanks.
When our daughter arrived prematurely at 36 weeks, she faced challenges that led us to the NICU. After genetic test results and a two-month hospital stay, we joyfully brought her home with a feeding tube and oxygen.
Bellyful’s meals gave us a break from takeaways and gave us nourishment. We are so thankful it gave us more time to focus on our daughter during this intense time.
Today, our daughter is a fun-loving two-year-old, and we’re profoundly thankful for your support during our time of need.
Bellyful provided meals for families in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) and Special Care Baby Units (SCBUs) throughout the country. This is a shared initiative with Little Miracles Trust who provide the freezers and make sure whānau know about the meals. In the year to March 2023, we provided 1,534 meals directly to these units.
We also began supplying the NICU at Middlemore Hospital, reaching an area where we do not have a branch but are aware of the great need.
