Colleagues raise a bundle for Bellyful

A workplace movement challenge has raised almost enough to provide three nights of meals for a whopping 70 whānau.

The seven members of the Cloudcheck crew have raised $1,696 via Givealittle, participating in a global challenge run by their parent company GBG.

Staff all around the world take on a physically demanding challenge to raise money for their country’s selected charity. The New Zealand team had a shared regional goal with Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and China to cover 6,000km. Cloudcheck Account Manager Ash Raj says they covered their distance in a range of ways.

“We dressed up and did a walk around town covering around a 5km walk. We also did our own individual challenge, where we could walk/ hike/ bike.”

The seven participants did about 30km on average per person in a week.

“The goal was to be as active as possible and see if we could raise over $1,000. Some of us took our dogs and went on a hike whilst others were out and about on their bikes.”

Raj adds, “We chose Bellyful because we wanted to support new mums as I have friends who became new mums and have no support and are constantly struggling to keep up with day-to-day life.

“What Bellyful does is wonderful and has that support system for these new mums which we wanted to be a part of.”

Bellyful General Manager Wendy Thompson says the charity greatly appreciates the support.

“Thank you so much to the Cloudcheck team for this wonderful fundraiser. We are always so grateful when people take it upon themselves to help us fill bellies. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – it takes a village.”

Thompson says anyone who would like to run a fundraiser for Bellyful is welcome to get in touch.
