Bellyful gets Auckland Airport grant for families in neonatal units

Dec 20, 2023 | Uncategorised

Bellyful has been awarded $12,000 from Auckland Airport’s Twelve Days of Christmas campaign.

It’s being used to pay for the meals Bellyful Franklin and Bellyful East Auckland provide especially for the Middlemore NICU.

This one feels pretty special.

Our fabulous Bellyful Wellington West Branch Coordinator, Jacqui Jago, has been named a Paul Harris Fellow by The Rotary Foundation. Her citation recognises her “long-standing commitment to supporting families in need and strengthening community well-being”. That’s Jacqui all over.

For more than 14 years, Jacqui has led Bellyful Wellington West, supporting families in Karori and neighbouring communities with care and kindness.

Jacqui leads a dedicated local Bellyful team cooking and delivering meals to families who need a break. During Covid, she also coordinated food parcels from her own home, and she has supported initiatives like Christmas gift collections so children and caregivers could choose presents at no cost.

We are so proud of you, Jacqui. Thank you for the leadership and generosity you bring to volunteers and families in Wellington, week in and week out.

One inspiring local, Janice Delicata, has been volunteering with Bellyful for around 10 years. Her message is simple: “I really believe in Bellyful.” And she’s seen first-hand the difference a meal can make.

“You see some of these mums – they’re so tired and they’re just so grateful when you arrive with the meals.” For Janice, the most rewarding part of volunteering is “knowing that you’re making a difference in somebody’s life.”

Ngā mihi Janice, and all our amazing volunteers.
