It is phenomenal to think about all the time, care and aroha that has gone into all those meals from our volunteers across Aotearoa. We thank every Bellyful volunteer, past and present, for all this incredible combined achievement. Not all heroes wear capes – some wear a Bellyful apron – thank you so much.
While we have much to celebrate, we know that times are hard. So many people are reaching out for support, and demand for our help continues to rise from whānau across Aotearoa.
We know from the beautiful feedback we regularly receive from our recipients that we have a special impact – a few nights off cooking can make all the difference when they are going
through something tough..This makes us invigorated to continue to do what we do best, cooking and delivering top quality, tasty meals to whānau who need support.
Bellyful NZ remains focused on its sustainability so that we can continue to support whānau who need us, and we are pleased with the progress we have made in the past year in strengthening our foundations. We have been steadily improving our systems so our wonderful national support team can guide our volunteers more efficiently.
We’d like to pay special tribute to one of Bellyful’s first trustees, Julie Cullen, who passed away this year after a short illness. Julie was passionate about ‘sharing the Bellyful love’ with her community in Franklin, and ensuring the Bellyful grew to reach more families across NZ. Julie is greatly missed by her children, her family, her friends and colleagues.
We would also like to pay a special tribute to the late Chloe Wright. Chloe was an ardent advocate for mums and whānau and is sorely missed. We are so grateful for her passion for Bellyful and we are proud to help continue her legacy through our work.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Bellyful NZ this year and over our 15 year history. We greatly appreciate you and look forward to your support as we continue to grow and nourish our communities.
